School uniform makes a strong statement about togetherness and shared endeavour in the pursuit of excellence, and encourages children to feel pride in themselves as well as their school. One parent wrote to us after a parents evening and thanked the school: “My son is so proud to belong to Oriel High School”.
Oriel High School has a uniform because we believe that looking smart equates to smart thinking and learning. The uniform has been developed to be special and distinctive. The uniform should be worn with pride. Students should look smart, hairstyles should be moderate (in other words no excessive or un-natural colouring or shaved patterns, mohicans etc) and any make-up discreet.
No jewellery is allowed apart from a wrist watch and a single plain (gold or silver) stud in each ear lobe. This stud must not exceed 5mm in diameter.
Shoes must be plain black leather’business style’. Ankle boots (Hi-tops), canvas shoes or trainers are not permitted. Correct style of shoe can be seen here can be seen here UNIFORM 2016
If a student arrives at school wearing incomplete uniform, they will be asked to change. Students will not be allowed to lessons until correct uniform is worn. Parents may be contacted to get the problem sorted.
