Uniform

School uniform makes a strong statement about togetherness and shared endeavour in the pursuit of excellence, and encourages children to feel pride in themselves as well as their school. One parent once wrote after a parents evening and thanked the school: “My son,” she stated, “is so proud to be part of Oriel High School".

Pride is a tremendous emotion – it fulfils us and spurs us on, and our children should be given the opportunity to burst with it. We all want our children to belong to constructive social groups – school should be right up there at the top of our list, and the most obvious way to mark this is in how our children dress when they go there.

Oriel High School has a uniform because it believes that looking smart equals smart thinking and learning. The uniform has been developed to be special and distinctive. The uniform should be worn with pride. Students should look smart, hairstyles should be moderate, make-up discreet and no jewellery , except a wrist watch should be worn.  Students are allowed, if they wish, to wear a single plain (gold or silver) stud.  This stud must not exceed 5mm in diameter and can only be worn in the ear lobe.

If a student arrives at school wearing incomplete uniform, they will be asked to change. The school will deal with the situation appropriately and the student will only be allowed back into lessons when the correct uniform is worn. Parents may be contacted to get the problem sorted. All basic uniform items, including the PE uniform, should be bought from the Simmonds uniform shop or online, again through Simmonds.

Please call our Uniform shop direct on 01293 884913 to make an appointment directly with Simmonds. The shop is open on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 2.45pm - 3.45pm.

Also please ensure that all school uniform and personal belongings are clearly marked with the students name.
