Friends of Oriel
A reminder about what the Friends of Oriel Group does...............
Friends of Oriel Group works in partnership with the school by organising fund-raising events and Parent Information Evenings. We aim to act as the link between home and school for all parents/carers. We are also consulted and give feedback on school issues such as wearing of ear-rings, school bus, parking etc etc – we act as “your voice” so that you can be heard. BUT we need to hear from YOU!
If you are passionate about your child and want the best
for them – why not get involved and be part of their future by being part of the
Friends of Oriel and be heard? What’s stopping you........??
What happened at the Friends of Oriel Meeting held on 3rd March 2008? Here are the highlights for your information........
We are always keen to hear from parents/carers and you are welcome to attend these meetings which run every half term. Highlights from this meeting were:
- Fundraising – the Friends of Oriel are aiming to raise as much money as possible to provide benches for the school. Our target is £4,000 for this school year. We will be at the above events requesting donations from you by providing refreshments and are looking at setting up a “100 Club”. Look out for regular updates as to how we doing. If you would like to donate any money to the school please address your donations to Marissa Smith –

- Bidding for funds by subject areas – As we are a charity and one of our criteria is to raise money to go back into the school, we have been receiving “bids” from subject areas for money. So far we have been able to support the following areas by providing some or all of the money towards equipment, etc:
- Drama – A Samsung Camcorder
- MFL – a licence for “Attanto” which allows access for students at home
- Geography – coach for Y7 field trip
- RE – providing Need Religion and & Life Text Books/
As you can see, your support is vital! Thank you in advance!
2nd Hand Uniform – WE NEED YOURS......!
We are in the process of setting up a 2nd-hand uniform sale. So if you have any unwanted blazers, skirts, ties, PE kits that your child has grown out of, please could you bring your cleaned items into Reception marked for the attention of the “Friends of Oriel”. Thank you.
