Oriel High School are celebrating the GCE ‘A’ Level achievements of its’ Year 13 students. Headteacher, Philip Stack, commented: ‘We are delighted on behalf of our students. They have worked hard to achieve fantastic results that will open doors to a bright future.  Their results are a credit to them, their families and the staff of Oriel High School and we wish our former Year 13 students every success for the future’.

In this, the first year of results including the new government reformed two-year linear A Levels, the overall pass rate was 99% with 74% of these passes at grades A*-C. An impressive 17% of all grades were awarded at A* for outstanding performance.

Oriel Sixth Form’s BTEC National results also included some impressive performances with 48% of all BTEC outcomes being awarded at Distinction* level (these grades being equivalent to one GCE ‘A’ Level Grade A*).

There were very many outstanding personal performances by our students with a large number of students who have secured places at university – including courses as diverse as:

Law; Interior Design; Engineering; Biochemistry; Physics; Chemistry; Economics; The Art of Videogames; Fashion, Media and Promotion; Music Production; Physical Education; and Politics.

As well as students going on to Higher Education; Oriel students are also embarking on Higher apprenticeships in a range of employment sectors, gap years and following specific pathways at specialist institutions.

A special mention for Robert Eves who secured an impressive 4A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics; the only student to have achieved four A Levels at the very highest grade in the Sixth Form’s 8 year history.

Robert has accepted an offer of a place at Lancaster University to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering,
